Façade installation nears completion on The Walt Disney Company’s new headquarters, a 22-story building at Four Hudson Square in Hudson Square, Manhattan. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and developed by Silverstein Properties, the 338-foot-tall structure will yield 1.2 million square feet of offices, film and production studios, and ground-floor retail. Lendlease is the general contractor for the property, which is alternatively addressed as 137 Varick Street and occupies a full city block bound by Vandam Street to the north, Spring Street to the south, Varick Street to the east, and Hudson Street to the west.

The green terracotta and glass façade has made significant strides since our last update in August and now covers nearly the entirety of the steel-framed superstructure. The construction crane has been dismantled from the property, and all that remains to be enclosed are a few sections on the ground floor and the gaps where the construction elevators remain attached.

Bronze-colored panels with thin vertical louvres adorn the walls around the center of each elevation, adding contrast in color and texture. This same finish will also be applied to sections of the mechanical bulkheads.

Exterior renderings show new tree-lined sidewalks, retail frontage with green stone paneling and oversized windows, canopies over each of the four entrances, and landscaped terraces atop the setbacks.
